The Rottnest Fast Ferries Fleet
Here at Rottnest Fast Ferries, we pride ourselves on providing a superior service to all our guests. In addition to being the fastest ferries to Rottnest, we are the easiest option too. This is on top of making sure your trip is as smooth and enjoyable as possible.
Here we take a closer look at the vessels, vehicles, and equipment that help us consistently deliver a great Rotto ferry experience. We also explore the additional services you can take advantage of when you book with Rottnest Fast Ferries.
Our fleet of Rottnest Island ferries
As the only locally owned and operated Rottnest Island ferry company, our team are our biggest asset. They have been crucial to our growth over the last decade and are responsible for delivering a great guest experience. But, beyond the wonderful people that work for us, it’s our vessels that really set us apart.
Currently, we operate a fleet of three ferries – MV Voyager, MV Seaflyte, and MV Harbour Master. Each of these vessels is slightly different, but they all share some important key features. Specifically, all three of our ferries have:
outdoor viewing decks, allowing you to enjoy the sun and sea air on the way to or from the island
indoor seating areas with air conditioning and large picture windows
an onboard bar stocked with a great selection of snacks and drinks
While all three of our vessels are clean, modern, and well appointed, MV Harbour Master is the real star. It’s the newest addition to our fleet and the most spacious Rottnest ferry currently in operation. And, as a twin hull catamaran, it’s incredibly stable, making it one of the smoothest ways to get to Rottnest Island.
What’s more, at 37.2m long, MV Harbour Master can safely carry up to 420 passengers across its three levels. These added conveniences are all just part of the Rottnest Fast Ferries service!
By adding MV Harbour Master to our fleet, we have boosted our capacity to deliver regular Rottnest ferry services. We are also better positioned to expand our services at peak times, running more ferries to Rottnest when required. This means that you’re sure to find a service that suits your schedule when you book with Rottnest Fast Ferries.
Importantly, operating three vessels also allows us to cater for group travel bookings and private charters. This is in addition to our seasonal whale watching cruises, which are always popular.
Our shuttle bus service
All our ferries to Rottnest Island depart from Hillarys Boat Harbour, which is located 20 minutes north of Perth’s CBD. Getting to the harbour couldn’t be easier, with multiple public transport options linking it to the city and northern suburbs. There’s also plenty of free parking at the harbour, if you’d prefer to drive yourself.
To make our Rottnest ferry offering even more convenient, we also offer a complimentary shuttle service. In fact, we have two coaches picking up from, and dropping off to, locations across the city, Burswood, Northbridge, and Scarborough. For more information on this service, including how to book, check out what you need to know before you go.
The Quokka Hopper
The Rottnest Fast Ferries service doesn’t stop when we dock – we want to make sure you get the full Rotto experience. And a big part of that is being able to get around the island quickly and easily.
That’s why we recently expanded our on-island offering to include an on-demand private transfer service – the Quokka Hopper. Carrying up to 7 people (or 5 people plus luggage), the Quokka Hopper connects 12 key sites in and around the main settlements. Just book your pick up online and we’ll have you there in no time!
Our bike and snorkel gear
We know that having the right gear makes it much easier to get out and see all the sights.
That’s why we also maintain a fleet of 200 custom-built bikes. These have been designed to suit the conditions on Rottnest Island and can be hired before you leave the mainland. They can also be used to get around Hillarys Boat Harbour, which is also an award-winning tourist destination.
And for those that want to explore Rottnest Island’s iconic bays, we have 60 sets of snorkelling equipment. These can also be hired before departure and each set includes a mask and flippers, and comes in a convenient net carry bag.
